paridrsto means to see through, to elucidate. this is the fullfilment of rupa-anugamat-samapatti where awareness in dissolving the object dissolves the subject and their apparent roles become blurred and irrelevant. elucidation is not a form of cognitive knowing.it is the movement into the primary awareness state (sabijasamadhi) in which all perceptible phenomena reveal their inherent emptiness (shunyata). it is the result of subject becoming totally one with object by which they dissolve (samapatti).

this continuum from rupanugamat through samaptti to parisdrsto is the mechanism of freedom. it cannot however be applied as an act of will. it is that which unfolds when the habitauted intentional activity of the mind is relaxed. into that relaxation awareness emerges and closes the subject object duality, dissolving the sense of self and undermining identification with actions that sustains the sense of self. yoga is based on offering body and its actions to the mind so that the effort whereby that offering is habitually and continuously made can be seen to be what it is: the cause of suffering.
